How To Audition
Step 1: Prepare Your Materials
You will need to submit THREE items:
VIDEO 1: Performance Video (3-4 minutes)
- Perform ONE song that showcases your strengths (your choice)
- Must include full body view (we need to see stage presence and movement)
- Audio quality should be clear (doesn't need to be studio-quality)
- Can be live performance footage or recorded specifically for audition
VIDEO 2: Introduction Video (1-2 minutes)
- Introduce yourself: name, location, musical background
- Why do you want to join The Band Black?
- What's your understanding of our AI-assisted music approach?
- Confirm your availability for development and Q2 2026 tour
DOCUMENT: Application Information
- Full name and contact information (phone + email)
- Position you're auditioning for
- Current location and willingness to travel
- List of instruments/equipment you own
- Links to social media profiles or previous performances (optional but encouraged)
- Any scheduling conflicts or limitations
Step 2: Submit Your Audition
Send all materials to: auditions@thebandblack.com
In your email, please include:
- Subject Line: "AUDITION - [Your Position] - [Your Name]"
- Links to your videos (YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
- Your application information in the body of the email or as an attachment
OPTIONAL BUT ENCOURAGED: Post your performance video to TikTok or Instagram with the hashtag #TheBandBlackAudition and tag @TheBandBlack. This helps us find you and builds community around the audition process!
The Selection Process
Phase 1: Video Review
All submissions reviewed by The Band Black team and mentors
Phase 2: In-Person Callbacks
Top candidates invited to audition in person (all expenses covered for travel if needed)
Phase 3: Full Band Integration
Finalists rehearse with complete band and meet with James Alexander and AJ Alexander
Final Selection
Final band members selected and development begins immediately
Timeline: We will notify all applicants of their status within 2 weeks of submission. If you are selected for callbacks, we will provide at least 1 week notice for scheduling.
